Polite Society was established in early 1997 as a hobby business.  Lynn Rankin, an historic re-enactor, wanted to expand her wings beyond her historic time periods by combining her love of tea, etiqeutte and women’s studies.

Polite Society began as simple High Society Victorian and Edwardian Afternoon Teas (1830-1930).  Mrs. Rankin expanded her afternoon teas to include lectures on a variety of subjects including tea, fashion, etiquette and general women’s history in 2004 and continues to enhance her existing programs.

Etiquette has been and is a great interest of Mrs. Rankin.  Currently she enjoys a library of approximately 95 etiquette books dating from 1780 to 1950.  Please see the Etiquette pages for more information.

Polite Society offers a variety of programs and hands on classes to fit any style or length of time.  Offering lectures from 15 minutes to one hour; presentation from one to two hours and full day programs, Polite Society can fit your schedule.

Contact Mrs. Rankin for more information on how Polite Society can entertain or teach your group, organization or class.

Private classes for tastings are also available
